For a diverse range of recreational pursuits such as hiking, camping, swimming, and fishing, Silver Lake State Park's expansive 3,000 acres cater to various interests. The park's 450-acre lake offers a stunning sandy swimming beach with a gently sloping bottom, ideal for wading and swimming. Exploring the lake via canoe or kayak is a fantastic way to soak in the scenery. Additionally, miles of hiking trails wind through forests, tallgrass prairies, and wetlands, providing opportunities to spot wildlife like deer and turkey.
An essential stop is the captivating Little Sable Point Lighthouse. Standing tall at 107 feet, this historic lighthouse has guided ships along Lake Michigan since 1874. Visitors can climb its 130 steps for panoramic views of the lake. Inside, the lens room still houses a functional 4th order Fresnel lens crafted in Paris during the late 1800s.
